In February 2018 I designed my first acrylic riser shelf. I couldn’t quite find one online that fit my display cases and didn’t want to have a bunch of wasted space on the sides or top. So I went about designing something custom for myself, the “v1”. It wasn’t anything overly special or unique, it had to be glued to stay together, but it fit my space nicely and that’s all that mattered to me.
Then early 2021 people started asking about the shelves and if I would sell them. I hadn’t thought about it up to that point, but I went back to the drawing board to design something better. I came up with a more optimized design, the “v2”. It had more support, but was a little unstable and still needed to be glued. Then after some more tweaking, adding braces and notches, I came up with the “v3”. For a while I just had the one design, then some people started asking about custom designs. I made a whole bunch of variations to display all kinds of specimen sizes and shapes.
I started selling my acrylic shelving in April 2021, and in March 2022 I started my LLC business, The Jinx Shelf Shop. From April 2021 until now I’ve had over 170 unique buyers! So I just want to say thanks to all of you who’ve supported this project of mine over the years. Thank you for supporting my small business and trusting me to help display your collection and/or merchandise.
